Come Take a Walk on the Edge

What a view to wake up to! This is where this year’s herbal field intensive is happening… at a camp site rarely open to the public because the locals know to reserve these sites the moment they become available. Here’s more info. Register at the link below.

Weekend in the Woods: Herbal Field Intensive
June 2-4, 2017

HFIHockingHills

Join this 3-day educational retreat in the woods and fields to learn about regional plants in different parts of Ohio. The third HFI will be held near the shore of Lake Erie at the Lake Erie Bluffs, Lake County Metropark. Here we will find many plants that inhabit the dramatic landscape of the bluffs. We will explore trails to find and identify plants of the area.

Herbalist and educator Leah Wolfe, provides a hands-on introduction to wild foods and medicines. Explore the ethics and methods of foraging, herbal actions by taste, and methods for preparing and storing herbs. Identification and use of 5 native and naturalized plants will be emphasized.

HockingHillsCrisFellows Food and lodging are included in the registration fee. Note this is a camping event and you will need to bring your own tent and other supplies. Participants in the HFI may help with the preparation and cooking to integrate herbalism into daily living. There are two work exchange positions available for people who like to plan and cook meals. Partial scholarships may be available depending on how many people sign up. Contact us if you are interested in knowing more about this. Registration fee of $165 includes healthy meals, camping, educational materials and supplies, and instructor’s fees.
