Why you should consider the Community Herbal Intensive at the Trillium Center:
Reason #6
People who finish the CHI are invited to participate in community projects through the Trillium Center.
This is Kristen Weeks. She attended the CHI, completed some apprentice work, and took many other classes at the Trillium Center. Later Kristen helped with the First Aid Wellness Center at the Midwest Women’s Herbal Conference in 2015. She heals through myofascial release and incorporates herbs into her work and her home.
This is Jessica Berry. She attended the CHI and has completed several personal education consultations. She is building a non-profit organization in the Lake Erie area to address food deserts by increasing access to healthy foods. This project will be a collaboration with the Trillium Center and possibly other organizations in the area. She is particularly interested in developing ways to help people (including herself!) integrate herbs into daily life.
Many others have finished the CHI. I’ll share their stories here, too.

The Community Herbal Intensive is an educational program for herbalists and other plant lovers who want to make a connection between herbal medicine and community health. The monthly workshops will take participants out into the field to work with plants or into the streets to develop community projects. This program is for anyone interested in furthering their studies of herbal medicine in a hands-on environment while developing skills for creating community projects. The goal of the program is to give participants skills, ideas, and strategies to start community projects that emphasize holistic health, folk medicine, education, gardening, and foraging. They will be introduced to the concepts of public health and liberation theory so herbs, education, and community health can be interwoven into well-planned projects. The Trillium Center is about 70 minutes east of Cleveland and just 35 minutes from Erie.
